Foreign Rim is a classic turn-based strategy game. By default, each player is given three days to complete their turns, after which the subsequent player may choose to skip the inactive player and proceed with the game. This occurs infrequently, as players typically complete their turns at their earliest convenience. However, immediate responses within minutes cannot be guaranteed.
When establishing a new multiplayer session, there can be a waiting period before other participants join. For expedited matchmaking, players are encouraged to post in the Discord community to invite others to their game session. During this interval, players may engage with the AI opponent in Custom Game or Scenarios mode.
The game supports a lot of different Game Options that affect the gameplay. Try them out!
The artificial intelligence system is fully operational and capable of executing complex strategic maneuvers, including landing operations, base development, unit construction, and offensive actions. Players are invited to engage in single-player custom games either against or alongside AI opponents. It should be noted that the AI implementation does not encompass all possible tactical approaches and functions optimally with specific game configurations. The most engaging AI experience is available through pre-built scenarios, which are recommended for exploration.
The replay feature provides a comprehensive overview of opponent movements executed during their preceding turn. Players are able to observe all actions from their perspective and with full control over playback functions including pause and speed adjustment.
Furthermore, all multiplayer sessions are recorded. Upon game completion, all replays become available for playback through the Game Archive.
The data is collected from multiplayer sessions to enhance the competitive and social aspects of the gaming experience.
The platform supports the creation of custom scenario configurations incorporating AI participants, predetermined base establishments and specified unit formations. Once created and uploaded, these scenarios become accessible to the entire player community. The Instuction how to build custom scenario provides detailed invoration and examples to facilitate the development process.
Players are advised to review the existing library of available scenarios prior to beginning development.
